December 16, 2024: Sri Lankan batter Charith Asalanka who features for Jaffna Titans in the Lankan T10 Super League that is being played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium has stated that indeed the longest format of the game is quite demanding considering it is the shortest version of the game.

“T10 is really tough for a bowler. For an average bowler, who only bowls two overs, that becomes difficult for him. Otherwise, it comes down to how you are playing on that particular day because at times there is something on offer on the pitches for the bowlers and on other occasions the tracks support the batters more,” Charith Asalanka said.
Batting for a left handed batter is ultimately all forms of cricket that important factor in determining how many runs a team will score.
“The aim of the day is to go and score runs for the team and I think everyone is looking forward to that from us and that is our job. Regardless of the format, I think all of us must perform and score runs,” Asalanka said.
The unit also features David Wiese and Kusal Mendis among others and Asalanka believes this is a great chance for the young players to hone their skills. Titans have some prominent names in the unit such as David Wiese, Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka is of the opinion that it’s a great opportunity for youngsters to enhance their skills.
“Yeah, it’s very important to share the dressing room with those guys because we got a lot of young players as well in our dressing room and I think as a country we need those kind of experience cricketers with younger players in the dug,” he concluded.
Jaffna have been in some superb form in this tournament edition as they were yet to lose a match in the first four that they played.
