Aamer Sohail, a former Pakistani cricketer has expressed confidence that a format like T10 is suited for the batters as they are not required to hold back as the game is suited to batters who can be aggressive from the beginning.
“Well, nowadays cricket has turned into an aggressive sport, and when you refer to the small form like the T10 I tend to think it is about the batters breaking boundaries. Especially, the ones that open the innings, are required to do the groundwork that relieves the pressure on the middle order. You’ve got to start play with the intent of getting runs,” Aamer said.
Sohail who was known for his aggressive batting endorsed T10 cricket format asserting that it has the potential to develop the game in the countries that do not endorse cricket.
”It opens doors for youngsters in t10 cricket who do not have a reputation and are not known.”
It’s a good chance for them provided by T10 cricket to actually show their talents. ICC on the other hand has been very active in promoting the sport in those countries. In my view, the correct usage of this format is to feed the non cricketing nations into the game. I think it is this format that will motivate and encourage to play the sport,” he added.
He heaped praises on Sri Lankan supporters for providing an equal support that they do to cricket.
In Sri Lanka, I think it is the most cared for sport when talking about cricket. Any type of cricket is going to be appealing to them especially the shorter forms where they are sure to have the pleasure of seeing more sixes and many boundaries,” he concluded.
